Cabbage!

Remember Sadie's cabbage plant she brought home from school last spring? Well, today we picked her cabbage.

It weighed in at 3 lb. 4 oz.
It's a pretty nice cabbage. It probably could have gotten much larger, but we were afraid it might split. She has certainly enjoyed watching it grow.

Freddy the Cabbage

Remember back in March when Sadie brought home her cabbage plant? We said we'd do weekly updates? The weekly updates didn't happen, so how about just an update?

Freddy is surviving and thriving. We decided today was as good a day as any to transplant him into his new home in the garden.

The boys and I had fun checking to see if the potatoes were up (some are). We also had fun looking for volunteer squash and popcorn. The plan is to hopefully plant the seeds in the garden this week--but you know how plans go around here.

Planting Potatoes

We planted our potatoes today--some say we are too late, but my great-grandmother always said you were supposed to plant potatoes on Good Friday. We shall see...

Cabbage

Sadie brought home a cabbage plant today. Her class is participating in the Bonnie Plant 3rd Grade Cabbage Program. Sadie thought it would be a good idea to try to post weekly updates on the plant. I think we are going to have to plant it in a larger container so it'll keep growing until it is warm enough to put outside here. We're going to see if Nonnie will let us bring it down to her so she can take care of it while we are gone for spring break.
