Kindergarten Graduation

T.S. graduated from Kindergarten Friday. The theme was "Top Hats and Tiaras." The girls sang "Diamonds are a Girls' Best Friend" and wore gloves, boas, tiaras and large "diamond" rings. The boys sang "Top Hat" and wore top hats, bow ties and had a dancing cane. It was a neat number. T.S. received the Milky Way award for science and all of his question asking.

He had a great year with Mrs. Osmanski and Mrs. Cox.

The cane turned into a paintball gun as soon as graduation was over--I had to ask him to quit shooting it during the rest of the elementary awards.

Where does the time go?

We've made it through another week--time certainly seems to be flying.
Here are the highlights:
Monday--
  • At morning assembly, T.S. was named Kindergarten's Outstanding Student for the second six-weeks. (This meant he was recognized and got to go on stage in front of the whole elementary--in his way-too-short sweat pants because that was all that was available that day. Thanks, Robby, for at least having those clean.)
  • Fiddle Lessons--Sadie is now working on three songs.
  • Dance/Cheer--Sadie and her friends are tweaking and finishing up their routines for upcoming performances at home basketball games.

Wednesday and Thursday--Sadie and T.S. spend a day and a half with GeGe. Happy hosted our district elementary and junior high UIL events those days. Sadie was an alternate for oral reading and creative writing. We were proud of her for trying out.

Friday--Sadie enjoyed a movie and ice cream sundae at school as a reward for participating in UIL. I went Christmas shopping after school. Robby and the kids hung out.

Today--We worked most of the morning putting laundry away (again, thanks, Robby for getting it washed) and returning the living room to normal after the craft explosion. Plans for the afternoon include more laundry and a visit to Nonnie's.

We are looking forward to the Thanksgiving break next week. Hopefully I'll get around to taking some pictures.

First Day of School

We ALL started school Monday.

Sadie was excited to start fourth grade. She has the same teachers she had last year, so she knew exactly what to expect. She is excited this year to add band to her schedule and to have Coach Keith (HS football coach) for PE.

T.S. was very excited and even stood on the stage in front of everyone when the Kindergarten was introduced. He was thrilled that there was an actual toy tractor and plow on the bulletin board outside his room. The theme in the elementary this year is "farm." I can think of no better one for T.S. to be starting out. He was Farmer of the Day the first day--he got to wear a John Deere cap and sit in a special recliner to read.

I am enjoying my job so far. It is fun being the fourth grade aide. I'm getting to be in the classroom for all subjects and am learning some neat ways to teach and present material. So far, it has been fun. We are all pretty tired--tonight is the last night of our church's revival that has been going on since Sunday.

We are looking forward to next week when the only activity is dance class on Monday--hopefully we'll be able to establish a better routine for getting things accomplished at home.
